Brief

During the discourse of Ralph Dennis Collection Whiteout we designed a spatial and interactive experience. Apart from the fashion Design Concept the myth of Sysiphus served as an inspiration for the realziation of the installation. By this means the aspects of harshness and isolation met a dramaturgical grid with the focus on inhumanness.

“… a blind man eager to see who knows that the night has no end, he is still on the go.“ (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus)

Like Sysiphos, who never accomplishes his aim of rolling up a rock to the peak of a mountain, the beholder should face a similar kind of hopeless situation. The aim of the visitor is to grasp the work of the designer. Within the meaning of a Whiteout light should draw the attention to the exhibition, but will also prevent the beholder from perceiving it to full extension.

A Setup of distance sensors, projection mapping, spotlights, wind machines, sound of white and grey noise and metal tubes should provoke a feeling of harshness and isolation to stage Ralph Dennis Collection.
